Book Review: Big Daddy's Tales

I am often asked how I can keep a sense of humor in light of our unusual circumstances. Frankly, I don't know how I would survive without laughing at myself and the unique stressors that the universe bestowed on me. We've been hit with a lot of hardships in the last few years and I still have a grasp (albeit precarious) on my sanity. I truly believe that finding humor in everyday stuff helps me survive this journey.

When F. Lewis Stark contacted me about his book, Big Daddy's Tales From The Lighter Side of Raising a Kid With Autism, I was thrilled to have a chance to review it. I had only recently discovered his blog, BigDaddyAutism.com and couldn't wait to see what chuckles he would provide in book form.

Big Daddy's book is a collection of funny stories centered around his experiences with his autistic son, Griffin, who has a special love of Wilford Brimley, the Weather Channel, elevators, and mall maps. Big Daddy navigates his adventures with Griffin with a contagious humor. I found his stories to be endearing and inspiring. I also felt like they validated some of my own experiences with my son. We all need more humor in our lives and reading about Big Daddy's experiences from his unique perspective will help you find the funny in your life too. It is a quick read that is sure to make you giggle.

Big Daddy's Tales From the Lighter Side of Raising a Kid With Autism is available now and would make an excellent Father's Day gift.
